Worldwide Photo Walk 2013 in Berlin

Worldwide Photo Walk Berlin 2013

Yesterday a bunch of people met in a historic part of  Berlin, Germany for a two hour photo walk. This is organized by initiative of American photographer, author and educator Scott Kelby. Altogether there where almost 28,500 walkers  on their way in more than 1,200 locations all over the  world. The Berlin group consisted of about 20 photographers.

Tour guide Sebastian had organised his walk perfectly. Each walker got a printed map of the route with explanations for several spots – just in case one would get lost in this lively part of town.

Between the stops there was plenty of time for exchange with other photogs and many more chances to shoot. Well, I call myself at home in Berlin but this tour lead me to corners I haven’t seen before (at least not from the vantage point of a photographer).

The 2.5 km route took us from underground station Weinmeisterstraße through Spandauer Vorstadt to St. Sophie’s church, to Koppenplatz, Oranienburger Straße and finally to Monbijou Plaza (where at this time of the year were unfortunately no public tango dancers anymore). Since it was a dull and grey day I decided to produce some desaturated look for my images (except the first one, because this was taken at a place with quite a vibrant atmosphere). After all most of the group, went to dinner where a lot of discussion on photography went on.

My verdict: I can’t wait to do this again.
